For the Love of Rene Caovilla

So there is no question that when you are looking to pay top dollar for a pair of beautiful shoes, you go to a few key designers: Monolo Blahnik, Jimmy Choo and without question, Christian Louboutin. Today, however, I wanted to shine a light on Italian shoe design. I believe Italy makes the very best shoes in the world; the quality of craftmanship is untouched and desire for Italian shoes is unparallel.

Let us feast our eyes on a man who has worked with the likes of Christian Dior as well as Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel. His name is Rene Caovilla, and for most shoe fashion addicts, this name warrants instantaneous recognition. The first thing that comes to mind are the intricately detailed stunning shoes that are each within itself, a true work of art.

Working with another brilliant shoe design master, Valentino Garavani in the seventies helped shape his craft into what it is today.

Caovilla is the strappy sandal man. More than any other style of shoe, you will find sandals in his collection. Even strappy sandals for the winter months.

Its true that you will be paying well over $1,000 for a pair of these exquisite shoes, but to me, if money were no object, I'd own multiple pairs. We can always dream, can't we? :)
