Favourite Three

Have you ever looked at a cover of a magazine and loved it so much that you thought you shoud put it in a frame and up on your wall because it is just that beautiful, or intriguing, or special that it would denote such an honour?

Each time I go through and organize my things, magazines included, I always come across these three magazines and know that I could never throw them away because I love them too much. The covers of them drew me in and they still do to this day.

Here are my top 3 personal favourite magazine covers:Domino with Zooey Deschanel (February 2009)
My number 3 and most recent favourite not only displays an actress I adore, but it has sentimental value as it is the second last issue of the dearly departed Domino.

House and Garden with Chloe Sevigny (January 2007)
Two:Chloe's style is so my style, very feminine and light hearted. How could I not fall absolutely in love with this one?
Vogue with Kirsten Dunst (September 2006)
My favourite movie displayed right on the cover of the queen of all fashion magazines, Vogue! It is extravagant, romantic, and so glam. Its a given that this is my number one favourite magazine cover of all time.

Scarlett in 40s Glam

Rumour has it that Scarlett Johansson is in the lead to play Marilyn Monroe in a bio-pic by director Simon Curtis called "My Week with Marilyn" -Source . I don't think the choice is such a stretch, well as far as looks/resemblance goes. Scarlett has a more voluptuous/curvy figure than your average Hollywood actress. I mean she's no Christina Hendricks, but, I could see it working.Others they had in mind for casting were Amy Adams, Michelle Williams and Kate Hudson. I think Scarlett can do it.

Until that choice is made, it looks like Scarlett is chosing to dress sexy vintage styles at her appearances. The first set of pictures below are from the Dolce and Gabbana London photocall: I just love these colours on her. I know red hair is not really her favourite hair colour and she misses the blonde, but I think her (or her stylist) have made really fantastic choices in making the red really work for her. Just look at the shoes above, not the first obvious choice as a match for the beautiful blouse/skirt combo, but they compliment so perfectly. Her she is on the red carpet of the LA Shorts festival. When her hair is up like that, its easy to picture Marilyn Monroe. The suit is so tailored and looks like it was made for her body. Even though I think the colour washes her out a tiny bit, its a lovely choice.

<3 for Miss Deschanel

Last week I saw such an amazing little summer gem, 500 Days of Summer starring Joseph Gordon Levitt and the fabulous Zooey Deschanel! I've been a huge fan of Zooey since first seeing her in Almost Famous. Her sense of fashion and style is so sassy, quirky and unique. Its juicy and I love it. Here are a few of my very favourite looks shes sported:

What I wouldn't give to go browsing through this girl's wardrobe!

Cherie Bomb

Let's talk a little bit about another Cherie; Cherie Currie that is!
With all the attention in the media lately about the currently in production film, The Runaways, based of course on the late 70s girl punk band (The Runaways), I knew I had to take advantage and post about it!
My very first exposure to The Runaways came with my love for the soundtrack to the movie Dazed and Confused. The song on it by them is Cherry Bomb. Even saying the title now puts the song instantly in my head, "Can't stay at home, can't stay in schoool, the old folks say, you poor little fool, down the street, I'm the girl next door, I'm the fox you've been waiting for." "Hello daddy, hello mom...I'm your chchchchchcheerrrry bomb". That's Cherie's voice you hear in your head right now!
Cherie Currie was born and raised in California to a family very influenced by Hollywood; both her sister and mother are actresses. Sometime during her youth she saw a David Bowie concert that would change her style and her life. She traded in her long hippy locks for a short Bowie-esque do and began a whole new style of life. That is when Joan Jett and Kim Fowley found her and told her to audition for lead singer of their new band, The Runaways. Cherry Bomb was written for Cherie on the spot and the rest is history!
After returning home from this show in Japan in 1977, Cherie moved on with a solo career. Then in 1980 she starred alongside Jodie Foster in the film Foxes with Scott Baio. Many accomplishments have followed including a marriage to actor Robert Hays, the birth of their son Jake, as well as more song writing and acting. Here's her website: CherieCurriedotCom
Now a younger generation will be exposed to the music of The Runaways thanks to the 2010 film. Above you can see the actresses chosen to play the title roles. Of note the most key casting has gone to Kristen Stewart (of Twilight/New Moon fame) as Joan Jett (its so striking how alike the two of them look) and Dakota Fanning (mega child star) as Cherie Currie. There is constant buzz about this film all over the media, so finding some pictures to show was a ridiculously easy task.Note the t-shirts above; I have a hunch these will catch on and become in demand in the near future. I know I would love to own the cherry red one!
Keep your eye out for more Runaways news! I know I will be :)

Eye on...

The graceful and oh so talented Camilla Belle. She may be dating a Jonas brother, but I can look past that. Why you ask? Well Ms. Belle has impeccable style. Now I'm not quite sure if its thanks to a stylist or what, but something tells me that she dresses herself. I can see the passion for fashion in her eyes. It helps too that shes ridiculously gorgeous and can pull off so many looks.

Unlike a lot of young Hollywood, Belle dresses so appropriate for her age (22). In fact, her style is utterly timeless. I have to believe that her and Emma Watson have to get on pretty well as they both have that fashion IT.

In this little post I have assembled my very favourite of her looks.

Thanks for this post comes directly from a viewing of her film Push last night. Was not quite sure what to expect, but I'll say I was thoroughly impressed. That reminds me, in the next year I must do a Dakota Fanning post; that girl is growing up fast, but with complete grace.

Eye on...

The girls of the Harry Potter today. These images of Ms. Emma Watson and Ms. Bonnie Wright on their tour of promoting a film which I am beyond excited to see, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince! Insert major girl squeals in here ;)

I am in awe at Ms. Wright's style here; she looks amazing and is inching up on the heals of Ms. Watson!
Just take a look at those delicious cranberry shoes!
The film opens next week! Eeek, so excited!!

Alice in Wonderland 2010

My favourite Disney movie is being reinvented by a true artistic/imaginative genius, director Tim Burton. It will have almost been 60 years (when this film is released) since the original cartoon came out in 1951.
I saw the poster for the film on Friday as I was leaving the theatre, it took me right back. I didn't recognize it as the actual Tim Burton film, I thought it wasn't what it was. Just look at this: Now it didn't take until today when I saw all the pictures online to realize that this is Johnny Depp, it looks like Elijah Wood! Burton totally threw me off. But oh doesn't it look just marvelous? A dreamlike world of crazy, adventure, things going topsy-turvy, things that are indeed different than they first appear? This is Wonderland and I am beyond excited to see where it will take us.
Above is Alice (obviously ;) played by newcomer Mia Wasikowska.
Anne Hathaway as the White Queen, how fitting.
Above, my favourite choice, Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen. This is inspiring thoughts of Halloween costumes in my mind. Hmmm
Let's take a step into a who new magical world. I'm tingling with excitement already. Cup of tea anyone?
